Wishy Washy Washer Woman
TRADITIONAL
|
I’m
having so much fun with this traditional song in my library
concerts this summer, I thought I’d share it (or rather borrow
if from my other website-
www.singWithOurKids.com). While you’re there, poke around
and check out all the other free resources.
If you go
here
you can read one of the great short articles about singing this
song with kids by from a wonderful children’s librarian, Rick
Samuelson. He's also shared a
video
where he shows the motions to this song.
If you can find an old washboard to show the kids, it makes for
a great discussion. You can put some thimbles on your fingers
and play a song or two before teaching this one. I sing This Old
Man (only counting to five).
Wishy Washy Washer Woman
Way down in the valley where nobody goes
(Point downward...then wag finger)
There's a wishy washy washer woman washing her clothes
She goes: ooh! aah! ooh ahh, ooh ahh, ooh, ahh
(using both hands
scrub down then up)
That's how the wishy washy washer woman washes her clothes!
Way down in the valley where nobody goes
There's a wishy washy washer woman drying her clothes
She goes:
(blow!)
aah!
(blow!)
aah!
(blow!)
aah
(blow!)
aah!
That's how the wishy washy washer woman dries her clothes
Way down in the valley where nobody goes
There's a wishy washy washer woman folding her clothes
She goes: clap clap, clap clap, clap clap, clap clap
That's how the wishy washy washer woman folds her clothes!
