Here's a "welcome to winter" song that you can also use as an activity for groups of children. (Of course you can also just put the song on, and let the children all dance and change with each verse.) As always, use your imagination to create your own version of the song!

ACTIVITY:
Divide the children into four groups; geese, wind, snowflakes, and shooting stars. Ask them how each might move and sound different. Then give the children scarves or other costume props, and let them act out and dance each verse. (You might use this for a winter performance piece!).

Winter Dance

I’d like to fly with the wild geese, way up high
I’d like to fly with the wild geese across the winter sky

I’d like to blow with the north wind, way up high
I’d like to blow with the north wind across the winter sky

I’d like to drift with the snowflakes way up high
I’d like to drift with the snowflakes across the winter sky

I’d like to ride on a shooting star, way up high
I’d like to ride on a shooting star across the winter sky
