Here’s a silly little song for Thanksgiving that gives the turkeys a break! With lots of repeated lines and fun rhymes, it’s a great sing-along for the youngest children. I know, because my two and four-year-old grandchildren loudly sang it with me all the way home yesterday! It would also make a great little “play” for a Thanksgiving program, or just for fun. And if you are a guitar-playing teacher or librarian, the chords are simple so it’s a great choice for beginning guitarists. Make sure and print out the sheet music with guitar chords which are always available on my website with the song of the month.

AND as a special bonus, you can download a printable book (PDF) to use when you sing it!

     Happy Thanksgiving!

Three Fat Turkeys Sittin' On A Log

Three fat turkeys sittin’ on a log
The first one said, “I wish I were a dog
If I were a dog I could bark all night
And go ruff, ruff, ruff in the pale moonlight

Three fat turkeys sittin’ on a log
The second one said, “I wish I were a frog
If I were a frog I could croak all night
And go rib-it, rib-it, rib-it in the pale moonlight

Three fat turkeys sittin’ on a log
The third one said, I wish I were a hog
If I were a hog I could oink all night
And go oink, oink, oink in the pale moonlight

Three fat turkeys sittin’ on a log
Knew they’d never be a dog, a frog, or a hog
So they gobble-gobble-gobbled ‘neath the pale moonlight
Then they hopped off the log and they wobbled out of sight
