The national
summer reading theme for 2011 is “One World, Many Stories.” In keeping
with that, I am offering the title song for my upcoming summer
concert. It will feature rhythm instruments made from found items
around the world. Take a walk with your children, and see what you can
find! Stones, seeds, small sticks, and for some of us, pine cones, all
make wonderful sounds! Using your imagination (and theirs!), I’ll bet
you can come up with some pretty clever ideas! Then play along with
this song. Over the next couple of months I’ll be sharing my ideas for
homemade instruments from nature, and I would love to share any you
come up with as well. Send me a photo or description, and I’ll post
it. Let’s make some music!
Sticks and
Stones, Seeds and Bones
Sticks and Stones, Seeds and Bones
Everything has a little rhythm of its own
Sticks and Stones, Seeds and Bones
Everything has a little rhythm
Take a look around, look down on the ground
And listen for the music waiting to be found
Pick it up, shake it up, break it up and make it up
Listen to the rhythm, listen to the sound
