What are You Thankful
For?
Copyright 2005 Nancy Stewart
Children love hearing their names in songs! There are two
different ways to use this one. I have recorded 3 versions of this song, so
please read the notes below and use the one that fits your needs.
VERSION 1:
Use it to learn the full melody (you won’t want to actually play it for your
class, because it has random children’s names in it)
VERSION
2:
You can play this version and sing along, as it leaves spaces for you to
sing the children’s names. The third verse in this version also leaves the
questions out so you can add your own.
VERSION
3:
A Thanksgiving song.
As you insert each child’s name, that child can say what he or she is
thankful for.
NOTE:
Although I have tried to leave plenty of space on the recordings for
children to think of and say an answer to the questions, I encourage you to
sing the song without the recording so children can take as much time as
they need (especially younger children). Either way, keep a steady beat by
patting your thighs to keep a rhythm going.
