Make fruit maracas (instructions here) and sing this song. Modify it depending on the fruit shakers you have made.

Variation: If you don’t want to make the papier-mâché shakers, you can still make shakers to use with this song. Make shakers from empty prescription bottles. Using the fruit patterns cut out fruit shapes from construction paper (laminate to make them last), and glue a fruit picture to the top of the bottle. Or use your imagination and whatever materials you have to design your own fruit.

Shake, Shake, Shake Your Apples

I like to eat my apples, red and yellow too
And if you give me apples green,
I’ll make an apple pie for you

Come on and shake, shake, shake your apples
Shake ‘em way up high
Shake ‘em to the left and shake ‘em to the right
Let’s have a little apple pie

I like to eat bananas, ripe and yellow too
And if they’re really, really ripe,
I’ll make banana cream pie for you

Come on and shake, shake, shake your bananas
Shake ‘em way up high
Shake ‘em to the left and shake ‘em to the right
Let’s have a little banana cream pie

Come on and shake, shake, shake your apple
Shake your banana too
Shake ‘em to the left and shake ‘em to the right
I’ll make a fruit salad for you, it’s true
I’ll make a fruit salad for you, that’s what I’ll do
I’ll make a fruit salad for you
