This month’s song
kicks off a new category of my Songs of the Month: Read 'n Sing Songs
“Read’n Sing Songs”
will support early literacy. That means they will
have printable pages so children can follow along with the lyrics and
“read” along, either matching pictures to words, or noting the rhyming
words. Many of the past Songs of the Month fall into this category,
but I haven’t listed them separately. Now you will be able to locate
them in the categories listing. Next to each song title will be a note
about the early literacy skill the song reinforces, and description of
the printed material to accompany the song. This should make it more
efficient for teachers to target the songs of the month which best
support their work in early literacy. Of course I hope parents will
also use the printable pages!
I Like Sandwiches
has a printable page with pictures over the nouns in
the lyrics, so children can “read” along. If you project the lyrics on
an overhead, the class can read along as the song is played.
I am double-checking the lyrics to make sure they
match the recording exactly. Please let me know if there is anything
